About The School

House System

The house system was devised to promote team spirit and a sense of belonging to the school and to promote a sense of community and competition within the School. The House System provides excellent opportunities for student leadership and peer group support. All students at MLPS are part of one of the School’s four houses:

  • Gandhi House
  • Laxmi House
  • Nehru House
  • Subhash House

Students can be identified by the colour of their House uniforms. All students are expected to support their peers and team activities are encouraged to gain important House points, with the overall winning House being crowned champions at our annual Prize Giving Evening. House events take place across a wide range of curriculum areas including art, sport, drama, science and technology.

Each house is led by a 12th Grade student, who serves as the House Captain. The Captain is responsible to manage house operations and is accountable for coordinating all activities for the House. Playing a support role to the Captain, the Housemistress is a faculty member whose primary responsibility is student advising, in terms of academic as well as co scholastic matters.
